Ewell Smith of Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board - Biography

When it comes to seafood, Ewell Smith knows what he’s talking about. Not only has he been Executive Director of the Louisiana Seafood Promotions and Marketing Board for over a decade (about 11 years and counting), but he’s produced the annual Great American Seafood Cookoff eight times. Before he took his plunge into the Gulf waters, Smith was campaigning and lecturing to promote sustainable building products with Southern pine. It’s no surprise Smith is such a natural at advocating for, well, nature. A graduate of Louisiana State University’s Agriculture Leadership Development Program and the National Fisheries Institute Future Leaders Program, he’s got certification, firsthand experience, and that top commodity of eco-expertise: local savvy.
