Chef Erin Shambura of L'Artusi - Biography

New York, NY

September 2012
Growing up in Bergen County, New Jersey, Erin Shambura started her culinary career as a server and bartender at local restaurants. She enjoyed the interplay with customers but grew to love the kitchen at work. After graduating from Providence College with history and business degrees, she decided to pursue her culinary interest, attending the New York Restaurant School and graduating 18 months later.

Since then Shambura has worked in some of New York City's most well-known restaurants, including wd-50, The Mercer Kitchen, and Del Posto, where, under the tutelage of Chef Mark Ladner, she grew to understand and love Italian cuisine. After leaving Del Posto, she took the position of sous chef at another Mario Batali eatery, Lupa, working for three years to hone her skills.

Looking for a new challenge, Shambura joined the team at L'Artusi as chef de cuisine in the summer of 2010, where she shares her passion for using fresh ingredients to create great food.
