Desmond Harris developed his career with time spent at such New Zealand institutions as Logan Brown in Wellington and the Martinborough Hotel in Wairapa. Harris joined Clooney in March 2008. Open since October 2006 and situated in a forgotten corner of central Auckland, Clooney has fast established a reputation for exceptional cuisine served within a dramatic setting. Inspired by traditionalism and finished with a modern slant, Chef Harris takes a modern approach to classic flavour combinations and ensures as many of the ingredients as possible are sourced locally and reflect the seasons. Clooney was awarded Best Casual Dining - Regional in The Cuisine Restaurant of the Year Awards 2007.
