Mixologist Debbi Peek of The Bristol - Biography

Chicago native Debbi Peek began working in the food and beverage industry at age 16. Her transition into the world of craft cocktails and the art of bartending began at the age of 24 when she moved to Maui, Hawaii. Three years and hundreds of Mai Tais and Pina Coladas later, she returned to Chicago and began training under Master Mixologist Bridget Albert and completed studies at the Academy of Spirits and Fine Service as well as the Advanced Mixology Culinary Academy.

Peek became a seasoned competitor on the cocktail circuit, garnering confidence along with her acolades. In 2007, she was awarded First Place at the National Skyy Spirits World Cocktail Competition National, which paved the way for her international competition debut at the 2007 International Bartenders’ Association (IBA) 56th Annual World Cocktail Competition (WCC) in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. That December, she landed a spot at the 25th annual Marie Brizzard International Cocktail Competition in Bordeaux, France, and in April 2008 she won the first round of the “Have” Averna cocktail competition, later competing in the finals in Sicily, Italy. In 2009, she was awarded First Place Regional Winner: Bartender of the Year for Domaine de Canton, and honored by the James Beard Awards Foundation as one of the Nation's top female Mixologists. In addition, 2009 provided Debbi with the opportunity to participate in Share Our Strength Taste of the Nation as the Beverage chair, a role she continues to fulfill.

Peek currently maintains a strong presence within the mixology scene of Chicago. As the House Mixologist at The Bristol and she crafts innovative cocktails for the spirit-savvy of the Windy City. Within the professional realm of the industry, Peek makes her contribution serving as President of the United States Bartenders Guild, Illinois Chapter. Peek has also spent a number of years as the Portfolio Mixologist for Bacardi, USA.
