Chef Christina Kaelberer of Bottega Ristorante - Biography
Previously the executive pastry chef of Jean-George Vongerichten’s Chambers Kitchen in Minneapolis, Christina Kaelberer translated eight years of international experience and expertise into a position as executive pastry chef of Jean Georges’ Market at the W Boston. Before joining the Jean- Georges family, Kaelberer received her culinary training both in her native Minneapolis (at The Art Institutes International Minnesota) and abroad (at the prestigious Valrhona’s École du Grand Chocolat in Rhône Valley, France).
In her role at Chambers Kitchen, Kaelberer developed the pastry menu, conceptualized and created seasonal desserts for the restaurant, and implemented one of the finest wedding cake programs in the greater Minneapolis region. And she brings these experiences and previous roles in some of the Twin Cities’ best restaurants, to the creation of confections and pastries at Market.
Having already earned scores of accolades in Minnesota, it didn’t take long before Kaelberer began getting the attention in Boston. A testament to her skills, Kaelberer was awarded “Best Dessert” by Improper Bostonian in their 2011 Boston’s Best issue, saying “Pastry chef Christina Kaelberer’s exotic plays on familiar desserts have earned her a spot as one of the city’s must-watch rising stars.” Now, as pastry chef at Bottega Ristorante in Yountville, California, she taking her brand of confectionery to the west coast.
