Brewer Chris Brown of Holy City Brewing - Biography
Always eager to learn after college, Chris Brown ventured off to Colorado to expand his knowledge of the beverage industry by attending a professional brewing school. Post graduation, Brown returned home to Atlanta where he worked under Gordon Biersch and took up brewing full-time. There he met his dream team and founders of Holy City Brewing—Joel, Sean, and Mac.
Since then, the men behind Holy City Brewing have come a long way from their home brew system made of welded bicycle parts. This local brewery, named after the Charleston skyline crowded with traditional steeples, sits in a 4,000-square foot warehouse in North Charleston and also doubles as a live music venue that features local bands. Head Brewer Brown hones his passion for brewing lagers and keeps four on tap all year. Brown’s creativity is evident in his extensive menu of seasonal and occasion beers—unconventional methods impart flavors like biscuits and honey, along with oysters and pecans. Brown’s passion is clear in his creations.
