Mixologist Billy Hankey of Congress - Biography
William “Bad Billy” Hankey is an Austin native and self-taught bartender. He won many people over at the Good Knight, where he served not only servedas bar manager for two years, but actually opened and worked construction. Now at the helm of Congress Austin, Hankey is exploring the range and variety of cocktails on behalf of the Austinian palate. In 2010, he was a finalist in GQ magazine’s “Most Inspired Bartender” contest held in Las Vegas. And while he does indeed go by the nickname “Bad Billy,” calling him that is a privilege that one earns (rye whiskey helps).
