Chef Anna Levien - Biography

Anna Levien is a certified vegan chef, culinary instructor, and pastry chef. A graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education and Cornell University’s Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate Program, Levien brings cross-category chef training experience to her craft as a teacher/chef with her blog Everyday Vegan (and Raw) by Anna.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Levien grew up in both Quezon City and Marikina City, where she watched her grandmother, mother, and aunts cook and bake. She moved to Manhattan as a student to attend Alliance Française, and later worked on Wall Street. But she never gave up her love of cooking and took as many cooking courses as time allowed. Eventually, she decided to take the plunge and become a professional chef. Levien was initially drawn to pastry for the aesthetics and presentation. Personal health reasons sparked her curiosity for vegan cuisine, and after losing friends and loved ones to cancer and heart disease, she finalized her resolve to “go vegan” and practice a high raw lifestyle.
