Hi! My name is Stephanie Zonis, and welcome to the July, 2001
edition of "For Chocolate Lovers Only". Each month,
you'll fine recipes, tips, and recommendations on chocolate
specialties. Enjoy a few "frequent requests" from
readers in thisedition, and look for all-new recipes in August!
Chocolate Recommendation of the Month: It's summer! Fire
up the barbecue--but don't forget the chocolate! This month's
recommendation is a clever use of my favorite food. Stonewall
Kitchen has adapted a classic Mexican mole to make their
mocha java grille sauce. It's a thick, not-too-spicy slather,
perfect for chicken or pork or other favorites (try grilling
some turkey and brushing on this sauce!). While the chocolate
taste doesn't predominate, it adds both color and depth of flavor
to this mixture. Why didn't I think of this first?
But
Stonewall Kitchen is more than just grilling sauces.
They make some very good preserves in both classic (try the
wild Maine blueberry) and unusual (roasted garlic and onion)
flavors. Salsas, fruit syrups, and pancake mix are also available,
not to mention dessert toppings (including a chocolate mint
fudge sauce and a raspberry liqueur hot fudge, neither of which
I've tried). These products would be great gifts--as a "little
something" when you're invited for the weekend, even as
part of a clever wedding present (get them the salad set they
asked for, then add a bottle or two of a flavored oil or vinegar).
If you'd like to look at the entire roster, see the Stonewall
Kitchen website at www.stonewallkitchen.com; you
can also call the company toll-free at (800) 207-JAMS. Check
'em out!
