: I'm owner of a produce company in Michigan and want to
: know what chefs want in their produce suppliers? I've
: found the competititon tough between the larger wholesalers
: and would like some helpful ideas. What bugs you about
: your current supplier and what would you like to change?

If you want to get a competitive edge, make sure your drivers don't just dump and run. A driver who puts the order where I want it and helps me inspect it is a great help. I get very annoyed by drivers who expect me to sign for an order without checking it properly. How thoroughly I inspect my order depends on how much time I have, not how much time the driver has.
Another way to impress chefs is to keep them informed of market conditions. If I know about upcoming shortages or bargains, I can adjust my menus accordingly.
