I think the problem here is that there are a lot of people out there that don't realize that it isn't necessary to be a complete jerk to someone just because they take your order. I both cook and wait in a mid-scale restaurant at this time; however when I was doing the fast food gig, there were a couple of customers who got to learn why they should be polite to the people making/serving their food...the hard way. Booger burgers were a favorite and urinating in coffee came a close second.
This is not to say that I condone such practices (10 years of maturing does that), but it's a nice wake up call to people who either don't realize or don't care how rude they are being.
A note to the general public: Just because the person is waiting on you or helping you (in the case of retail), doesn't mean that they are your personal slave...that was abolished more than 100 years ago. These people are doing a job; if someone were to come to you at work and treat you in the manner you treat the people who make a living helping you (and I stress that they are HELPING...read most modern training programs), would you be happy and feel that you were treated in a manner that suits your liking? IF the answer is no, I'd suggest you change the way you deal with people.
