I see no problem with and have no objection to children in restaurants. Other diners should be aware that kids have every right to be there and have special needs. As a waitress I understand that parents can't always control their kids, accidents happen with drinks and so on; I'm happy to look after the table, but many people don't realise that a table with children is hard work to serve. Parents are often apologetic when there is a big mess or the child is being difficult; I appreciate them realising that I am doing my best so that they can have a relaxing night with their family. However I do have a problem with parents allowing kids to boss me around or be rude to me; I deserve courtesy like anyone else. But why is it that these tables never tip? Tables with kids often take time away from other tables; however nice the parents are, they tend to take you for granted. By all means take your kids out for a meal, but if the service has been good and the staff have been supportive with your kids - fussy eaters, mess etc - tip. It makes all the difference and you will be welcomed back.
