: I don't think "serving" (if that was the word you meant and not "servering" (as in servering HEADS) is the sport of the "underpaid" as a matter of fact I am a professional server and I make damn good money, definitely not underpaid, if you can't take the heat,of the way people act, then stop complaining and go work in cubicle or something....

Thanks happyserver

I really don't understand so many unhappy servers. In such an open job market and a great economy their are plenty of job options for anyone who is unhappy with their current job. Nothing ties servers to a particular restaurant or for that matter to the career in general. If the clients and management is so bad, move on. Thats life. Also, I have worked in the restaurant industry for about 10 years--pastry chef-- and I know that ultimately it is called the hospitality industry for a good reason. People lay down their hard-earned money for just that hospitality. If restaurant workers, front or back house, don't want to offer customers hospitality those workers really do need to find other work. In case you wonder, I went in IT work because I realized that I did not want to be in the restaurant industry any longer. But my new job still involves a great deal of "service" to my customers/clients. Thanx.
