Waiters aretrained not to remove plates until EVERYONE atthe table is finished -- to do otherwise is rude. Slow eaterscan often be self-conscious about it, and clearing everyoneelse` plates before they are finsihed can make them even moreso. If you don` want to wait for others, you don` have to:there are two things you can do to indicate that you wouldlike your server to clear your plate. The first is to simplyask, and the second is to push your plate away from you (with,of course, your silverware in the appropriate position). Thelatter should indicate to a server not only that you arefinished, but also that you don` want your plate left therewhile others are still finishing.
