Cinna-raisin Wreath
Submitted by BEVERLY B. HALL
....
  • 1 frozen loaf of Wheat Bread (thawed)
  • 3 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1-1/2 cups Raisins
  • 1/2 cup Brandy
  • 2 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
Thaw wheat bread loaf until pliable. Simmer raisins in 1/2 cup of Brandy for 15 minutes or until plump. Sprinkle the work area lightly with flour. Work the loaf lightly with floured hands until 1/2 inch thick.

Brush the 1/2 inch thick loaf with butter, sprinkle cinnamon and layer the raisins. Roll the loaf until you have a rope shape. Fold rope shape in half and braid into a single loaf, pinching the ends to seal. Bring pinched ends together in a wreath and overlap and pinch again until sealed.

Place on a dish wide enough to accommodate the size, cover with plastic and put in a warm place to rise. When the wreath has doubled in size, bake in a 350 degree oven until golden brown.

Using the confectioners sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk, mix together briskly until a glossy icing has formed. Pour over wreath while it is still hot.

Pour the coffee (milk for the kids) and enjoy this easy dessert while warm.
