Joan Nathan presents Janos Wilder's New American Haroset recipe
On the Seder plate and as a side dish.
Recipe taken from JEWISH COOKING IN AMERICA (Alfred A. Knopf, 1998).

Ingredients
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • Juice of one-half lemon
  • One-half cup fresh mango, peeled and diced
  • One-half cup chopped toasted pecans
  • One-half teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Port or sweet wine

1. Peel, core, and dice the apples and sprinkle with the lemon juice.

2. Place all the ingredients in a food professor. Pulse once or twice just to break up. Let sit for the flavors to meld.

Yield: about 2 cups
