Once upon a time there was girl named Joyce who gave her name to an orphan ... a true story ... and when she asked what her new name should be, her dad said "Your name will be "Lucky" And Lucky she became ... and she grew up and fell in with ... lots of tomatoes. Even luckier are the chefs who keep her as their secret to having SUN RIPENED tomatoes all year round. Forty eight hours after being picked from the vine, guests at New York's finest restaurants (Lutece, Daniel, Le Cirque, Le Bernadin, Lepinass) are lifting these red juicy tomatoes to their mouths. Sixteen years ago, Lucky and her brother trucked the tomatoes up north by themselves. Now they have nice people to help but Lucky and her family are there to hand pick the best ones for their customers. Tips on how to tell good tomatoes from the bad... look for the bright red ones with a sheen. Most other commercial tomatoes are turned red with ethylene gas and have a dull finish... and they rot from the inside. Another Tip, it should give ever so slightly to the touch.
