Since launching their first restaurant, Patina, together in 1989, Joachim and Christine Splichal have gone on to open a series of establishments based on the "Pinot concept." Rather than create a prototype that is applied to each new location equally, the Pinot Concept is in itself based on a symbolic relationship with each particular neighborhoods and site. The consistent theme is high quality and imaginative presentation of food, and a gracious style of service. As a result, each of the restaurants, Pinot Bistro, Cafe Pinot, Pinot Hollywood, Pinot Blanc and Pinot at the Chronicle, offer a "unique familiarity"--you know you're in a Splichal restaurant, but you alsonotice the touches that make each a singular dining experience.
