WINNERS NAMED IN THE JIM BEAM "BOURBONQUEING COOK-OFF" CONTEST Three WINNERS have been selected in the Jim Beam "Bourbonqueing Cook-Off" contest, a nationwide search for the best barbecue entree recipes featuring Jim Beam® Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Grand Prize Winner:
Second Place:
Third Place: The finalists were flown to Bardstown to prepare their original recipes at the home of Booker Noe, master distiller emeritus and grandson of Jim Beam. Winners were announced at a backyard barbecue and awards reception immediately following the judging. The Grand Prize winner will receive $1,000. Additional cash prizes will be awarded to second and third place winners. "Adding a splash of Jim Beam will make a good barbecue recipe great," says Booker Noe, "It's a tradition that was passed down to me by my parents and grandparents, just like the recipe for our 203-year-old Jim Beam Bourbon."
Earlier this year, Jim Beam invited barbecue enthusiasts and bourbon
connoisseurs to submit their best barbecue entree recipes made with Jim Beam
bourbon. Hundreds of recipes came in from all across America, each created
with the spirit and tradition that embodies Jim Beam bourbon.
Judges for the final cook-off included: Scott Fine, On the Grill
editor-in-chief; Pat Dailey, Restaurants and Institutions managing editor and
Chicago Tribune contributing writer; Joyce Rosencrans, Cincinnati Post food
editor; Carolyn Wells, executive director of the Kansas City Barbecue Society;
Booker Noe, master distiller emeritus, barbecue aficionado, and grandson of the
legendary Jim Beam himself; and Marilyn "Toogie" Dick, owner of the Kurtz
