Dorie Greenspan has been baking professionally
and writing about food for almost 20 years. She is a columnist for Bon Appetit magazine (her Tools of
the Trade column debuted in 1997) and the author of Sweet Times, Simple
Desserts for Every Occasion (William Morrow, 1991), Waffles from Morning to
Midnight (Morrow, 1993; due out in paperback in February, 1998), its sequel,
Pancakes from Morning to Midnight (Morrow, 1997), and the bestseller, Baking
with Julia (Morrow, 1996), the companion volume to Julia Child's latest public
television (PBS) series. For Baking with Julia, Greenspan received the 1997
International Association of Culinary Professionals' award for Best Baking
Cookbook as well as the Cooks' Choice Award. In addition, she won the 1997
James Beard Foundation Cookbook award in the category of baking. A
contributor to the newly revised Joy of Cooking (Scribner, 1997), Greenspan
recently completed Desserts by Pierre Herme (to be published by Little, Brown
in October, 1998), a book featuring the recipes of Pierre Herme, pastry chef
of Laduree in Paris and 1997 Pastry Chef of the Year in France.
