CAFFE BONDI is located at 7 West 20th Street, Between 5th & 6th Avenues, New York, NY : 212-691-8136 This is a popular, cozy and friendly midpriced Sicilian-inspired Flat Iron District caffe at lunch and ristorante at dinner. People comment with pleasure that the restaurant makes them feel like theyre enjoying a meal in Palermo, Italy. The co-owner at Caffe Bondi, Antonino Settepani, more familiarly known as Nino is a graduate of New York University. Since 1981 he has co-owned Bruno Bakery. In 1990, he graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York City. Shortly after graduation, he became a co-owner of Caffe Bondi. The restaurant has promoted Sicilian food since it was established in addition to featuring other Italian classics. Nino has lectured about Sicilian and other Italian food at the New England Culinary Institute and at New York City Technical Institute. He participated with Marsilio Publishers in the American translation of the classic Italian cookbook, Pellegrini Artusis THE ART OF EATING WELL. Future plans for this Italian restaurateur include leading culinary tours to Sicily during July, 1999 and, Nino also plans to write about the Caffe Bondi experience.
