Darina Allen owns and runs the internationally renowned Ballymaloe Cooking School at Shanagarry, in Co. Cork, Ireland. She is the author of several cookbooks, most notably the highly successful Simply Delicious series which include Simply Delicious Fish, Simply Delicious Food for Family and Friends, Simply Delicious Vegetables, Simply Delicious in France and Italy and A Simply Delicious Christmas. She also presents her own cooking series on Irish television. A member of the International Association of Cooking Professionals, Euro-Toques, the Irish Food Writer's Guild and the Guild of Food Writers in Britain, she won the Gilbeys of Ireland Gold Medal of Excellence in 1991 with Myrtle Allen for her contribution to the Irish catering and hospitality industry. Darina is an Honorary Fellow of the Irish Hotel and Catering Institute. She has appeared on "Good Morning America" and on St. Patrick's Day, 1995, cooked breakfast for President Clinton and 150 guests.
